Displaying Kids Artwork

With two of my kids just beginning elementary school we have more than plenty of artwork around the house. For the longest time I didn't know what to do with all of it. I hated having it piled up all over the house and the kids would cry if they ever saw me throwing something away. This art gallery has saved me.
I got the idea from SUTTON GRACE. It's made from the DIGNITET curtain wire, from IKEA. Sutton Grace has a cheaper version on her blog. I love this for two reasons. The first, because it solved my artwork problem. The kids are thrilled to have there pictures displayed and don't mind taking one down too make room for the new.
The Second reason is that I had these huge empty walls in our mud room. I had the idea of filling them by framing my kids artwork. But I didn't want to frame just any artwork. I wanted to frame my favorites. It would take years to fill the walls with framed art work. The wire rod System gave me an inexpensive way to fill them fast.

I'll still be framing my favorites, but I can do it at my pace now.
I love these seasonal pieces my son did. I wish you could see the detail.
By-the-way I hung this all by myself. I thought I needed my husbands help, but got sick of waiting for him. It's been two months and hasn't fallen yet.

  3. Your art wires look great! I may have to move to something like this soon because we're running out of space with the current system.

  4. This would be a big hit with my three boys, who also get really offended when they see their artwork in the trash! Right now I take pictures of their best work and put the pictures in their scrapbooks (I'm actually working on a blog post with that tip in it). But if I can find a spot for your idea, I'll do it, too! Great job!

  11. i adore this idea! i think it would look awesome with any kind of art, though. the only think you'd have to worry about is corners bending over time, i suppose. and kudos for doing it without your husband's help! :)

  12. This is a great idea for hanging the ever evolving artwork! I used to teach, and do after school care, and always had pictures that kids made me. I couldn't just throw them out... This would be perfect in a classroom too!

  14. Ha! I had to do this with my own artwork! Now that Grandson (age 2) is painting every week @ my house, we have the same problem. But he's not yet 'attached' to his pictures so I take pictures and then make a photo book every so often. It'll work for a little while longer, I hope!

  17. Oh my daughter is 20 months and I can't wait to do something like this! Their art work is better than the "modern" stuff anyway.

You are boosting your children's confidence in such a great way!

I'd also like to invite you to my blog on Wednesdays as I review a chapter a week of the book "The Power of a Praying Parent."
