Tomorrow is a special day!

Yes, tomorrow is Father's Day, but it's also my birthday. Kinda stinks huh. I've had my birthday line up with Father's Day a couple times since we've been married. Here is the funny thing, my hubby's birthday is around Mother's day, so he's had to share his day with me a couple of times. We have things worked out, I'll give him breakfast in bed and he'll make dinner. I also celebrated today by going to see Toy Story 3 with the kids.

We'll we've had some big projects going on around here during the last month and I feel I am doing most things last minute. Our father's day gifts are no exception. I always like to give one thing handmade.

I just finished this super cheesy tie for church tomorrow.
I used one of his father's ties we kept but he doesn't ever wear.
I have this great fabric laying around that already has Wonder Under on it. I wrote the words with fabric markers and cut them out, along with some circles. Then I ironed them onto the tie. Next, I printed the pictures onto iron on transfer paper and ironed them over the circles. It didn't need to be sewn down but I wanted it to look handmade and cheesy, so I did.
I'm hoping he'll be a good sport about wearing it.

p.s. Any guesses for my new age? I'm curious at how old people think I am. I won't be offended.

  1. I guess 26, you look very young, and you are very hip and you have a young sister so that is my guess. I hope you have a great birthday dinner and that your hubby wears that tie with pride and love for and from his kids, my hubby would not wear it because it is a tie, he has a someone had to die or get married for him to wear a tied rule.

Happy Birthday, sweet friend, hope someone makes you a cake,

  4. Hello Kalleen,
I follow your corner at a time and love it! I think you're very creative, an inspiration! Really!

Beautiful work for Father's Day ... : D. Very cute!

A wonderful birthday to you a blessed Father's Day to your beautiful family!

Ps.: With the face of a girl you have, your age must be 26-28 years ...? I have 31 years with three children, and thought I had started early ...

Do not know if I translated right ...

    Hugs

  5. I too love your blog! So fun to read. Because of how many children you have, and guessing you started early-mid 20's, I'm thinking 29-32. I'm 33 and pregnant with my fourth. But, I didn't start until 27. YOu have a young face, as do I...which, as we get older, I've learned to really appreciate!

  12. I LOVE this tie you made! I doubt my husband would be willing to wear one but I think I will make him one next fathers day just for laughs!

Happy belated birthday! I hope it was a good one. I turned 30 earlier this year. I believe 30's will be the best decade yet!
