Groom's Dinner

We all survived our crazy weekend wedding. Everything turned out beautifully and exactly as the bride and groom wanted. It was a lot of hard work but so worth it.

Our family hosted a grooms dinner the night before the wedding. My dad was thrilled to prepare a dinner for 150 guests. He really likes to cook and entertain. Despite all of us kids begging him to let it be catered, he insisted that he be able to cook for everyone. Between the beautiful location and menu it was an amazing night.

We started off with appetizers.

We had BBQ wings,
shrimp,
and an assortment of crackers, ships, cheeses and dips.

After that was a BBQ buffet.

We tried to keep the decorations simple and casual.

The dinner menu included:
Pulled Pork sandwiches
Beef Brisket
Beef sausage
Pork Loin
Pork and Beef Ribs
BBQ Chicken
Corn on the Cob
Baked Beans
Macaroni and Cheese
Cold Slaw
Potato Salad
and assorted breads

I think it was enjoyed by all. There was something for everyone.
My contribution to the night was making pear tarts and mint brownies to add to the dessert buffet.

At the end of the night, my brother presented his bride with a cedar chest he made for her. It was very sweet and touching.
My dad is amazing, I don't know how he pulled it off.
I'll be gone for a while on vacation, but when I come back I want to share more of the wedding.

  11. All of this is absolutely beautiful! I love that she used the doily that way. I wanted to use one of my great grandma's doilies in my wedding and my grandma ended up covering the hangar my dress would hang on with it and then when we were setting up the wedding site it turned out that the "stage" was too high for me to step up on in my dress so my friends found a step to put up to it but it was just ugly plywood and they saw some more of the doilies that we had there in the piles of possible decorations to use and covered the step with it. It turned out so pretty and personal! Kelly
