Something for me

I finally got to sew something today. I actually sat down to do another refashion for one of my girls, but decided that I wanted to keep this one for myself.
I started out with this cute gray and white stripped dress from my sisters donate pile. I don't think the whole strapless thing was working for her.
I loved the fabric and the cute detail at the bottom.
The bonus was that it already had shirring in that back, so I didn't need to buy any elastic.
The whole thing was pretty simple. I just cut off the top. Then used the scraps for the waistband. The waistband consists of a flat panel in the front and the shirring in the back. Then I sewed my waistband to the bottom of the dress. I think it took me like 45 minutes.
My favorite part is that I was able to keep the pockets.
It was a big step for me to make something for myself. Making clothes for my curvy body scares me to death. I hope I do it again.

  2. You look lovely in it! I appreciate your curves, as I have them too. It's our reward for giving birth to four children. :)
