SPRING banner- free printable

Even though it is freezing in our neck of the woods, I am so ready for spring. I thought I would cheer myself up by doing my part to welcome spring. 

So today, out came the spring and Easter decor. Naturally, I needed a spring banner to go with it. 

I really love the colors and the scroll detail. I kept it simple so anyone could print it and make their own.

After printing the letters on three pieces of white card-stock, I matted them with some coordinating scrapbook paper. 

Then I cut slits in the sides with a razor.

 I threaded my ribbon through the slits,

and that is it, it's ready to hang.

The Stories of A2Z

crepe paper hanging hearts.

I've seen so many great paper rosette, valentines, projects flying around blogland, like THIS one, that I had to make some myself. 

I'll give you some basic instructions.

first I cut out a heart shape from cardboard. 

I used regular, birthday streamer, crepe paper. 

I loosely twisted it up, 

and rolled it into a rosette.

 Then I hot glued it to my heart. I tried to scrunch them tightly together so you couldn't see any of the card board. Sometimes I had little gaps, I filled them with little pieces of crepe paper. 

 When the heart was covered, I wrapped the edges with a long strand of twisted crepe paper. 

Next I made the ruffles my folding the pink crepe paper in half and gathered/scrunched it up. 

I hot glued the ruffles around the edge on the back side. 

The last part was glueing down a ribbon for it to hang from. 

This one is kinda small, only about six inches tall. 

Perfect for adding a bit of valentines to areas we don't decorate. 

I also made a large one to hang on our front door. 

I hope you like them as much as I do. 

Vintage Valentines

I read a post last year about vintage valentines, and I knew I had to have some.  I bought these on ebay in November. I paid $12 and got a grouping of 26 valentines.  I can't tell you how much I love these.  The pictures and the silly sayings just warm my heart. Notice the cowboy above, it says "WHOOP IT UP VALENTINE!...I CRAVE ACTION." I LOVE IT. 

I made some little holders out of old blocks and scrapbook paper.  I glued the paper onto the blocks, sanded the edges, applied some gel stain and drilled a small hole in the top.  Then using left over wire from the fairy wings and my old jewelry pliers, I made some little wire stands. I'm kinda loving these too.  They were an easy, cheap and fun project.  

I've scattered the valentines through the house. 

My son loves looking at the tank. 

"The Mower I think of you the more I like you, Valentine" What?

It's been fun to have people look through them laugh at the ones that don't make sense and choose a favorite. 

The rest of our Valentines Day Decor is pretty much the same as last year. I hope it's looks tasteful, I worry after reading this post and this post, at Just a Girl. I shouldn't care cause I like it. 

{LOVE} and {BE MINE} banners

My husband thinks I'm crazy because I've been putting up valentines decor. At the same time he complains about how empty the house is without Christmas decorations. 

I'll continue ignoring him like always. 

Especially because I'm loving this banner.

I printed on pink paper, punched a hole in the center-top and hung it with wire on a little ribbon.

I also made a {BE MINE} for my sister. We had some issue with the printer and it printed in Grayscale instead of the original red. I didn't want to waste the paper so we just dressed it up a bit more.

holiday home tour 2010

Our holiday decor it's very different from last year. Since I only had a few readers then, I thought I would give another home tour. We love our home at Christmas and hope you do too. 

Welcome to our home. It was built between 1900 and 1910. 

My father-in laws childhood sled. 

I got these giant bells at Tai Pan Trading Co. a few years ago. I bought them after Christmas for under $5 a piece. 

Our entryway. We have a lot of garlands. I've bought them all at yard sales and thrift stores. 

Last year I shared this $3 sled and how I didn't know what to put in it. I love how it looks this year.  I finally decided to paint those boxes.  It's difficult to spray paint outside in cold weather, but worth the results. 

The front room: I collect Santa's, so both the tree and mantel are covered.

I've bought most of my Santa's at the thrift store. 

I love dressing up our original sconces. 

We opened this Santa yesterday, as part of the 12 days of Christmas. The kids can't get enough of him, he plays music while mickey and friends spin around. 

The dinning room. 

Our nativity: We got this from my husbands grandma. I love the simplicity, the bits of gold to make it special and that it was hand made. 

One last thing, I wanted to show this wreath because I made it 6 years ago and didn't think it would last past that first year.  I don't know if a gum drop wreath would last as long, but I've been seriously impressed that this candy wreath has done so well. 

Off to spend another day in front of my sewing machine. I love sewing for Christmas.
